Tirupati Darshan Complete Guide 2026: Types, Timings, Costs & How to Book

Everything pilgrims need to know — darshan types, current 2026 pricing, timings, queue durations, and step-by-step booking.

2026 update at a glance: The earlier ₹300 special-entry darshan was discontinued in December 2024. The free SSD (Slotted Sarva Darshan) token is now the standard route for most pilgrims. Pre-booked online tickets exist for Special Entry (₹300) when released, and paid sevas (Suprabhata, Archana, etc.) continue normally. Original Aadhar mandatory at every counter.

1. SSD (Slotted Sarva Darshan) — Most Pilgrims

SSD is the default free darshan route TTD operates from the Vaikuntam Queue Complex II at Tirumala. There is no pre-booking; tokens are issued in time slots at counters near the queue complex (and at distribution points around Tirupati and Tirumala).

Token collection points (subject to TTD changes)

  • Vishnu Nivasam (Tirupati, opposite railway station)
  • Srinivasam (Tirupati)
  • Bhudevi Complex (Alipiri foothills)
  • Tirumala counters near the queue complex

What to bring

Original Aadhar card for every pilgrim (mandatory; photocopies and the m-Aadhar app generally not accepted at the biometric counter). Children below 12 do not need Aadhar but should be added to the parent’s token request.

Typical timeline (peak vs lean)

  • Peak (Nov–Jan, school holidays, weekends): Token wait 2–3 hours + darshan queue 4–6 hours. Plan for the full day.
  • Lean (Mar–May early morning, monsoon weekdays): Token wait 30–60 min + darshan queue 2–3 hours.

2. Special Entry Darshan (SED) — ₹300, Online Pre-Book

The ₹300 Special Entry Darshan ticket is pre-bookable online at tirupatibalaji.ap.gov.in. Tickets are released in monthly quotas typically two months in advance and sell out within minutes for weekend slots.

Booking calendar pattern (verify on the official portal)

TTD historically releases July slots in early May, August in early June, and so on — first week of the month, around 9–10 AM IST. Refresh the portal a few minutes before release and ensure you have a working OTP-enabled phone number on file.

What’s included

  • Darshan via the SED queue (typically 1–2 hours)
  • 2 free laddu prasadams

What to bring on the day

  • Printout of the ticket (or saved PDF)
  • Original Aadhar matching the booking name
  • Arrive 1 hour before slot time

3. Senior Citizen, Divyangjan & Infant Darshan

TTD operates a dedicated counter near the queue complex for senior citizens (65+), differently-abled (Divyangjan), and parents with infants (0–12 months). Slot booking is online or at the counter on the day.

  • Senior citizens: Original ID with date of birth (Aadhar/PAN/passport). Two free slot windows per day (morning and afternoon).
  • Divyangjan: Disability certificate plus original ID. One attendant allowed.
  • Infants (0–12 months): Both parents + infant get darshan. Birth certificate or hospital discharge slip as proof.

Wait time at these counters is generally 1–2 hours including darshan.

4. Divya Darshanam — For Foot-Pilgrims

Pilgrims who walk up the hill via Alipiri Mettu (7 km, ~3,550 steps, the traditional route) or Srivari Mettu (2 km, ~2,388 steps, shorter steeper route) are issued a free Divya Darshanam token at the foothills. This routes them through a faster queue at Tirumala — typically 2–4 hours total.

Important notes for foot-pilgrims

  • Carry original Aadhar (token issued against it).
  • Free luggage transport service to Tirumala via TTD vehicles.
  • Start before sunrise to avoid heat (Apr–Jun).
  • Drinking water and rest sheds along the route.

5. Paid Sevas (Suprabhata, Archana, Thomala etc.)

Sevas are paid temple rituals during which devotees can have closer participation with the deity. Each seva has its own ticket cost, slot count per day, and eligibility (most require ₹300 minimum and online pre-booking).

Suprabhata Seva₹1203:00 AM

Step-by-Step Booking — SSD Token Day-Of

  1. Arrive Tirupati early (ideally before 6 AM) with original Aadhar.
  2. Reach a token counter — Vishnu Nivasam, Srinivasam, or Bhudevi Complex at Alipiri.
  3. Biometric capture (fingerprint + Aadhar scan) — token printed with slot time.
  4. Travel to Tirumala by APSRTC bus (every 5 min from Alipiri) or private vehicle.
  5. Report at the queue complex 30 min before your slot. Carry only mobile, wallet, and a water bottle (no large bags).
  6. Through the queue — Vaikuntam Q Complex II, typically 3–5 hours including holding rooms.
  7. Darshan at the sanctum sanctorum — usually a few seconds; security keeps the line moving.
  8. Collect laddu at the distribution counter (2 free laddus per token).

Best Times to Plan Your Darshan

  • Smoothest darshan months: March, May (late), June–August (monsoon weekdays). Lower crowds.
  • Avoid if possible: Brahmotsavam (Sep–Oct), Vaikunta Ekadashi (mid-Jan, single day with extreme queues), school summer break peaks, all weekends.
  • Best day of the week: Tuesday–Thursday lean lower than Saturday/Sunday.
  • Best time of day to enter the queue: 5:30–7 AM or 9–11 PM (overnight processing).
