7-Day Tirupati Pilgrimage Itinerary 2026: What to See, Do & Avoid

A full 7-day plan that covers Tirumala Balaji, all major nearby temples, sevas, and rest days — with packages, pricing, and on-ground tips.

Day 1 — Arrival in Tirupati + SSD Token

Morning: Arrive Tirupati (train, flight via Renigunta airport, or APTDC bus from your city). Check into accommodation. Recommended: TTD-managed Vishnu Nivasam (book via tirumala.org) or private hotels via bookings.tirupatitirumalainfo.com.

Afternoon: Walk to the nearest TTD token counter (Vishnu Nivasam is opposite Tirupati Railway Station). Get your SSD token for the next morning. Aadhar mandatory — carry originals for everyone.

Evening: Light dinner. Early sleep — tomorrow is the big day.

Day 2 — Tirumala Balaji Darshan

4:00 AM: Wake, freshen up, traditional attire.

5:00 AM: APSRTC bus from Tirupati Central Bus Stand to Tirumala (₹50, ~1 hour winding ghat). Buses every 5 min.

6:30 AM–11 AM: Vaikuntam Queue Complex II — hold area, then SSD darshan. Plan for 4–6 hours total in queue.

11:30 AM: Collect 2 laddu prasadams from the distribution counter.

Lunch: Anna Prasadam (free TTD meal) at the dining hall, or paid lunch at Sri Mahalakshmi Bhojanasala.

Afternoon: Akasha Ganga waterfall (3 km from temple), Silathoranam (natural rock arch).

Evening: Return to Tirupati or stay overnight in Tirumala (book Vishnu Nivasam/Madhavam if available).

Day 3 — Tirumala Sub-Temples & Heritage

If you stayed in Tirumala overnight: visit Papanasanam waterfall, Hathiramji Mutt, Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy temple (right opposite Balaji main entrance), and the TTD Museum.

Otherwise: do a half-day Tirumala revisit, then descend by Srivari Mettu (2 km steep steps) for a foot-pilgrim experience.

Return to Tirupati base by evening.

Day 4 — Tirupati Town Temples

Spend the day visiting Tirupati’s town-level temples:

  • Sri Govindarajaswamy Temple — ancient temple opposite the railway station, no entry fee
  • Sri Kapileswara Temple — only Shaivite temple in Tirupati where Kapila Theertham waterfall flows year-round
  • ISKCON Tirupati — modern Krishna temple, peaceful, good for families
  • TTD Spiritual Museum (S.V. Museum) — worth 1 hour

Lunch at a local Andhra restaurant — try Tirupati’s famous laddu and pulihora.

Day 5 — Tiruchanur Padmavathi + Sri Kalahasti

Morning: Sri Padmavathi Temple (Tiruchanur, 5 km from Tirupati) — home of Goddess Padmavathi, consort of Lord Venkateswara. Tradition: Visit Tirumala only after visiting Tiruchanur.

Afternoon: Drive to Sri Kalahasti (38 km, ~1 hour). Famous for Rahu-Ketu pooja (₹750–₹1,500 booking, takes 1.5 hours). Air-element kshetra of the Pancha Bhoota Sthalams.

Evening: Return to Tirupati by sunset.

Day 6 — Kanipakam + Srinivasa Mangapuram

Morning: Drive to Kanipakam Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka Swamy temple (75 km, 2 hours). Self-growing idol, ancient and powerful. Truth-test temple historically.

Lunch: At Kanipakam temple Annaprasadam or local eatery.

Afternoon: Sri Srinivasa Mangapuram Kalyana Venkateswara Temple (12 km from Tirupati) — where Lord married Padmavathi according to legend.

Evening: Back to Tirupati base. Pack for next-day departure or seva.

Day 7 — Optional Seva or Rest + Departure

If pre-booked Suprabhata Seva: 3 AM start — special pre-dawn ritual where the lord is awoken with Vedic chants. Pre-book on tirupatibalaji.ap.gov.in.

Otherwise: A leisurely morning, shopping for laddus and pooja items, then check-out and return journey.

Pro Tips

  • Book TTD accommodation 60 days in advance on tirumala.org — it opens exactly 2 months before travel date at 10 AM.
  • Visit Tiruchanur before Tirumala per tradition — plan Day 1 or Day 5 accordingly.
  • Carry original Aadhar everywhere — every TTD counter requires it.
  • Dress code is enforced at Tirumala — traditional attire only.
  • Best season: October–February for weather + accommodation availability.
  • Avoid Brahmotsavam (Sep–Oct) + Vaikunta Ekadashi (mid-Jan) unless you specifically want festival darshan — queues triple.
