Ramakrishna Theertham
Ramakrishna Theertham is a sacred water body in Tirumala. It is one of the seven holy theerthams in Tirumala, and it is believed to have the power to cleanse the sins of those who take a bath in it on a full moon day full moon day of Magha month every year. Â
The theertham is named after a sage named Ramakrishna, who performed penance here for centuries and was blessed by Lord Vishnu. There is also idol’s of Sri Rama and Sri Krishna near the theertham, which was consecrated by the same sage.
The religious staff will start in a procession chanting mantras from Srivari temple and reaches Sri Ramakrishna Thirtham at 11 am.  The idols of Sri Ramachandra Murthy and Sri Krishna will be specially anointed with milk, curd, sandalwood paste and other spices.  Special pujas will be performed.
How to Reach Ramakrishna Theertham
- From Tirumala Bus stand Buses will be available to transport the pilgrims to Papavinasanam. From there we need the trek the path. Footwear is prefarable.
- Private vehicles and two-wheelers will not be allowed to Papavinasanam on this day.
- APSRTC will operate buses for transporting pilgrims from Gogarbham Dam Point to Papavinasanam.Â
- Advisable not to plan with children below 10 years and age above 50 years as it takes long hours of trekking and the path will not be smooth.
- Meanwhile pilgrims who are suffering from obesity, asthma, heart-related ailments or other chronic diseases, as well as small children, will not be permitted. Devotees will be allowed to proceed to the Theertham only after medical screening at Papavinasanam.Â
- To handle emergencies, two ambulances and four medical camps will be set up to provide immediate medical assistance to devotees.
- Food and Water will be provided by the TTD. Carry water bottles.
Timings of Ramakrishna Theertham
It will be open only once in a year. The devotees will be allowed to trek the torrent path only from 5 AM onwards till 12 Noon on that day, so that they can return back by evening.
