Festivals in Tirumala
Tirumala is a special place, always full of pilgrims and religious festivals.
There’s a saying that “Nitya Kalyanam–Pachatoranam” (Every day is a festival in Tirumala) because they celebrate more than 450 festivals in just 365 days.
Festivals in Tirumala are Nityotsavams(Daily), Pakshotsavams(Fortnightly), Masotsavams(Monthly), Samvatsarotsavams(Yearly) and Nakshatrotsavams (based on Birth stars).
- Daily events include Suprabhatam, Tomala, and Sahasranamarchana.
- Weekly events like Ashtadala Padapadmaradhana, Pulangi, and Shukravara Abhishekam, and star festivals like Rohini, Arudra, Punarvasu, Shravanam are also observed.
- They also celebrate the birthdays of deities like Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Nrisimha, Vamana, Parasurama, Rama, Balarama, Krishna, and Kalki as well as saints who served Sri Venkateswara.
- Other yearly festivals include Ugadi Asthanam, Theppotsavams, Padmavathi Parinayam, Jeshthabhishekam, Anivara Asthanam, Radha Saptami, Vaikuntha Ekadasi and Brahmotsavams.
The most important festival, Brahmotsavams lasts for nine days and features Garuda Seva on the fifth night, which is the highlight.
