Garutmantha is the foremost among the vehicles(Vahanam) and servant’s of Sri Venkateswara Swamy. Every year Garuda Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of Shukla Pakshmi.
On this occasion, it is believed that “Garudapanchami” Puja is performed by the newly married couple so that their married life will be happy and it is said that women will do worship for their child born to be strong and good-natured like Garuda. By performing this pooja, it is also believed that those suffering from Naga Dosham will be alleviated.
The procession of Lord Malayappa Swamy on His favourite vehicle Garuda Vahanam usually takes place on the fifth day of annual brahmotsavams and during every month full moon day. Apart from this the procession will also be conducted on Garuda Panchami day.
As a part of this Sri Malayappa Swamy will take celestial ride along the four mada streets in Tirumala from 7 PM to 9 PM.
