Pavitrotsavams at Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple

The annual Pavitrotsavams of Sri Padmavati Ammavaru temple at Tiruchanoor will be observed every year in the month of September.

As a prelude, Vishwaksena Aradhana, Punyahavachanam, Mrutsangrahanam, Senadhipathi Utsavam and Ankurarpanam will be performed.

Why Pavitrotsavams

May be mistakes are made in the temple either by the pilgrims or the staff. In order to prevent any damage to the sanctity of the temple due to such things, it is a custom to hold sacred festivals for three days every year. Programs like temple cleaning and sanctification are performed during these holy festivals.

On first day Pavitra Pratista, second day Pavitra Samarpana and on the last day Pavitra Purnahuti will be performed.

The Grihastas can participate on the payment of Rs.750 wherein two pilgrims will be allowed.

Koil alwar Tirumanjanam

  • Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam will be performed 3 days prior to the Pavitrotsavams.
  • Koil Alwar Thirumanjanam will be held from 7 am to 9.30 am.
  • In this, after cleaning the temple premises, walls, roof, worship materials etc. with water, the sacred mixture of namakopu, srichurnam, musk turmeric, pachaku, gadda camphor, sandalwood powder, saffron, kichiligadda and other spices is spread throughout the temple.
  • After that, the devotees will be allowed to visit Sarvadarshan from 10 am onwards.
