Tripurantakam Temple
Tripurantakam is located at a distance of 40 km from its nearest towns Markapur & Vinukonda, 93 km from Ongole and around 150 km from Vijayawada. It is on Guntur – Srisailam route. A famous temple dedicated to Sri Tripurantakeswara Swamy is located here.The temple is on the top of a hill. It is considered to be the Eastern gateway to the famous Srisailam temple. Goddess Sri Bala Tripura Sundari is located down the hill.
History of Tripurantakam:
As per Puranas, Lord Siva self-manifested here at Kumaragiri today it is called as Tripuranthakam after killing the demon Tripurasura. Bala Tripura Sundari Swayambhu emerged from Chitagni Gundam after killing the demons. And another legend is Kumara Swamy killed the demon Tarakasura (Who is commander In chief) on top of a hill
Tarakasura has 3 sons Kamalakshudu, Vidyunnathi and Tarakakshudu who desire to take revenge of her father died. After long penance Lord Brahma granted a boon with a set of conditions. The three demos misused the boon so Lord Brahma along with devas approaches Lord Siva for rescue. So Lord Siva took help from Goddess during the war. Demons was killed by Goddess and Lord Siva.

- Evening : 3 PM to 6.30 PM

- By Air – Vijayawada is the nearest airport which is at a distance of 170 KMs
- By Train – Nearest railway station is located at Markapuram which is at a distance of 42 KMs
- By Bus – Plenty of Buses available from Kurnool and Markapuram. Vijayawada to Kurnool buses will travel via Tripurantakam
