There will be Pranaya Kalahotsavam (Lover’s Quarrel Ceremony) every year for the Lord on the sixth day after Vaikuntha Ekadashi at Tirumala.
It is not a quarrel of anger but a symbolic enactment of love, highlighting the bond between the Lord and His consorts.
The day after the usual second bell naivedyam, processional deities of Lord Venkateswara and His consorts are brought out in golden palanquins.
They approach each other from opposite directions at the north-east corner of the temple.
Priests divide into two groups:
The Lord pretends to be afraid and pleads with His consorts that He did not commit any mistake. The dispute is finally resolved by invoking Bhagavat Ramanuja, who acts as the mediator, restoring harmony. Pacified Goddesses join Him on either side and receive Karupur Harathi along with the Lord. Asthanam is held after they reach the temple.
