The grand celebration of the Divine Kalyanam of Sri Godambika with Sri Krishna Swami is performed on the day of KANUMA, the next day to Makara Sankranti in the Kumbha Harati Mandapam following the scriptural instructions of Agamas. During that Kalyanam event, the Purana recitation of Sri Goda Devi Kalyanam also goes on as a customary part. On that day Lakshmi Devi who is on the chest of Lord Venkateswara is considered as Goda Devi, the garland worn by Goda Devi in Govindaraja Temple will adorn the Lord of Tirumala.
Thus the grand series of Goda Kalyanam Festival with various month-long events is celebrated with great devotion, dedication to the God and Goddess and with an un-parallel festive zeal.
Goda Devi at Tirupati Sri Govindarajaswami Temple
Sri Goda Parinayam is performed with celestial fervor in Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati every year. In the evening, Goda Kalyanam with Sri Krishna Swamy is performed in Sri Pundarikavalli Ammavaru sannidhi at the temple. As part of this, the celestial Goda malas (garlands) which were brought from Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple will reach Tirumala. These sacred garlands are taken in a procession in the four
mada streets and later adorned to the presiding deity i.e. Lord Venkateswara as part of celebrating Goda Parinayam.
